A carpet adds glamour and beauty to your home. Nothing beats the soft welcoming feel to your feet like a carpet. However, if not properly cleaned it can be a hub for dust mite and may not last long.
Here are some DIY tips that you can use to keep your carpet clean, attractive and lengthen its lifespan.
1. Homemade Carpet Cleaner Detergent
This is effective, safe and easy to make. It is environmentally friendly and gives a longer lifespan to your carpet.
Mix three-quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide and a quarter cup of white vinegar, add five to six drops of essential oils, two tablespoons of both dish soap and fabric softener then add hot water.
You can clean with your shampoo machine and your carpet cleaning Auckland mission will be a success.
2. Use Baking Soda to Remove Oily Stains
Baking soda easily takes off any oily stains and smells from your carpet. It also cleans animal urine if you are a pet person and takes away the stubborn urine stain.
Apply the baking soda on the stain and leave it for a few minutes then it is safe to vacuum and dumb the stained area.
3. Use ice cubes to Remove Gums
Gums tend to be sticky, stubborn and messy. Ice comes in handy at this point. Place ice cubes on the gum and leave it to freeze. When it hard and frozen scrap it off by use of a spoon or hard metal.
4. Remove Hair with the Use of Squeegee
If you are a pet person you know the vacuum does not take away all the pet hair. Use a squeegee every now and then to get rid of the hair. Even though it is made for other uses, squeegee comes in handy on this.
The above tips will go along way to keep your carpet clean, fresh without necessarily resulting to harsh carpet cleaners. The fun part is that they are all DIY’s.
